Take Ownership

Ownership is a huge thing. It implies taking responsibility for your words, thoughts, and actions. Many people are far more comfortable blaming others rather than admitting fault or admitting their role in something gone wrong. I will get back to ownership in a minute.

Everyone emits energy. Do you know what I mean? Some people have a very low and negative energy, while some people have a very high and positive energy. There are a variety of people who fit somewhere in between these two extremes. If you tune in, you can feel other people’s energy. You can also become aware of the energy you are giving off.

I am very calm and mellow, but I am also very positive. So I am way more comfortable being around people who are positive and energized by life. I, also, am very uncomfortable around people who vibe out a negative energy. I can feel it trying to suck the life out of me. I know that sounds quite dramatic, but it is the truth. Have you experienced this happening before? I try to stay away from those types of people. If I have to interact with this type of energy, I consciously repel their negative energy so that I don’t take it on myself. Have you experienced that? You interact with someone who repels you, even though they havent done anything outright to keep you away?

That phenomenon is you feeling their negative vibe!

Here’s where the ownership part comes in to play. Many people who I have known throughout my life who exude negative energy all have one thing in common: They don’t take ownership of the energy they are giving off. They aren’t aware that their negative thoughts, words, and actions are creating more negative situations in their lives. They are usually too busy bitching and moaning to realize that they are the problem that they are complaining about. They are oblivious to the wake of turmoil they leave behind with their negativity. What a total oxymoron!

I know this sounds harsh and not very encouraging, but I speak the truth. Sometimes its hard to look at the truth and admit you are doing something not very attractive. Think about the positive people you know. Now think about the negative people you know. What is the primary difference? It is what they focus on, how they spend their energy: their thoughts, words, and actions! When negative people run into (or most likely create) a problem, they complain about it, dwell on it, and keep it alive. When a positive person encounters the same situation, they tend to try to solve it, find the lesson in it, and move on.

Which type of person are you?
Which type of person do you want to be?
Do you take ownership or do you blame?

Speaking, thinking, and acting negatively are all poisonous to your soul and to everyone around you. If you are guilty of this, you need to reevaluate your motives and be conscious of it. Some people are so comfortable being negative that they dont even realize they are vibrating on that level. They are comfortable in the depths of despair. Awareness is the first step to growth. Take ownership of the vibration you are emitting. I liken it to the food you eat. If you eat nothing but unhealthy, empty, sugary, processed foodsโ€ฆyou will eventually get sick. Likewise, if you are feeding your brain with unhealthy and empty thoughts, your mind will become sick. In turn, you will speak poison, and you will poison others.

If you are aware that you are giving off a negative vibe, take steps to reverse it
โ€ฆyou and everyone you come in contact with will benefit.
Replace negative thoughts with positive thoughts.
Find the good in every situation.
Be grateful for everything.
No more complaining.
These steps will take quite an effort at first, but you can retrain your brain!

Take Action: This week and beyond, take a personal inventory of what type of energy you are emitting. If you are vibrating negatively, take steps to turn that around and start thinking, speaking, and acting in a positive manner. Please take ownership of your energy, because we know that what you put out there comes right back to you. If you are already giving off a positive energy, great! Keep looking for that higher energy to share with yourself and others!

Because Together is Better,

  1. It’s the law of attraction. If you are positive that’s what you’ll get from the universe!

  2. Great article! Being positive is so very important in every avenue of our lives! ๐Ÿ™‚ It is never too late for people to change.:)

  3. Positive here for me! I don’t try to do the fake it til you make it. To me then I am not being true to myself at that point. When it comes down to that part I step away and reevalute what is creating the negative and work towards getting it back to positive. I think as many happy thoughts as possible.

  4. Yes – I committed to being positive each day and push out the negative!!!

  5. “Be always surrounded with positive people”….just strike my mind after reading this. Being positive will always impact you and others. Just being positive is best to do, you will never know what influence you have just done to people around you who are in difficult situation…it gives them a sense of strength.

  6. I love this post Deanna. So true ๐Ÿ™‚

  7. As you know, I’m an energy practitioner. I love working with energy! Great post!

  9. Great article and right on… being positive just makes me feel so much better ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. Thank you! You really have to protect yourself and make sure you are around positive people. Negative thoughts and comments can stop you in your tracks. Keep smiling and keep positive!!

  11. I wish everyone would accept responsibility (aka take ownership) for their own actions. We wouldn’t have so many frivilous lawsuits. We wouldn’t have such high insurance rates (and for goodness sake, No Fault? or UnInsured?) It’s about time.

  12. There are some people that I prefer not to be around because of their negative energy. Obviously, I avoid these people as much as I can. I’m a positive person and return to that state as quickly as possible after being with negative people.

  13. I take ownership of everything I do. I am a very high energy, very positive type of gal. I get comments all the time from my upline about my positive energy I bring to my team. Thanks for sharing, it reminds us all to check our positivity.

  14. Negative thoughts are connected directly to fear.
Anyone can sense your fear that makes you appear weak and you loose your credibility.

  15. Thanks for your post, when being positive you have to own it first!! Thanks for sharing this!!

  16. I like taking ownership! It makes me feel great!!! I am a high energy positive person!

  17. Good post!

    Such truth in this post.

  19. Dave Sanchez says:

You succinctly describe for me an attitude that fosters positive energy. Concur, time has demonstrated those people who project negative energy will drain you. Hence, accidentally – on purpose – I avoid prolonged interactions with these folks. I rejoice in feeling more ‘comfortable’ when I gravitate towards like minded people…
Patience has been the key to attempt to enlighten individuals who emit negative energy. I believe in a famous quote to assist me in this endeavor, “…, just keep swimming, just keep swimming”! – Dory

  20. Right on, Deanna!
Negativity is a bad habit. Positivity is a good habit.
Habits can be changed, if you so desire.

  21. So true D. There are times when I am just feeling negative, pessimistic and self-loathing. Sometimes, I just have to stay away from others until I can work the positive energy back in. I have learned that being around others when I feel this way can make me feel worse because people, if even only subconsciously, repel my negative energy which fuels my insecurity. But if I have to go and interact, I will make my best effort to change the vibrations I give off – make myself smile, approach others with happiness, try to really focus on listening to others and feeding off their positive energy. It really works. I can fake it till I make it and have learned to feed off of others’ positivity.
