What I learned from a Toyota FJ Cruiser

Toyota FJ CruiserFor the past several weeks, it seems that every time I turned around I saw a Toyota FJ Cruiser.  I was not looking for these cars, but when I would drive to and fro I would always see them.  They would be parked where I was parking, driving with me in the flow of traffic, driving against traffic…I was seeing them everywhere!  I began to wonder why…what message was I to get from this car? Was God trying to tell me something?

I let my subconscious stew on it, I prayed about it, all the while I kept seeing this car in my daily travels.  Finally, my little voice, my intuition, my God told me to look up the slogans of Toyota.  I did just that, and now I am reminded of these great messages several times a day when I see these FJ Cruisers.  This is what I now think of every time I see this car:

Toyota’s Slogans:

1) “You asked for it, you got it, Toyota!” – 1970’s: This is a reminder of the scripture “Ask and you shall receive”.  What you ask for, you will receive if you are willing to allow it to come to you.  What you put out there comes back to you.  What you focus on is what you get coming into your life.  What we think about becomes the truth for us.  Be intentional about what you want.  Whether you focus on what you want or what you don’t want – you’ll get it!  If I set out on a trip to the store, and I think to myself, “Man, there is going to be so much traffic.  The store will be so crowded.  The lines are going to be huge!”  That is what will be.  On the other hand, if I leave thinking, “I am going to get the front row parking.  I am going to have a fabulous shopping trip.  I will be met with happy, helpful people.  I will wiz through the line.”  That is what my experience will be.  I have done this so many times in my life, and it is true.  This is a great reminder!

2) “Oh. what a feeling, Toyota!” – Late 1970’s: When focusing on my wonderful life, I am reminded that I need to “feel” the goodness with all of my emotions, using all of my senses.  I can not intend to have a fabulous marriage and harbor ill feelings toward my husband at the same time.  I need to “feel” with all my heart that I am in LOVE, that I crave my husband, that I have passion for him, I need to see him as my best friend, I need to melt into the smell of him, etc.  I need to “feel” what I want as if it’s already the way I want it – then it will be.  If there is an area in your life that you wish to improve, use all your senses to “feel” it the way you want it!  See what happens!

3)  “What will you do with all the money you save?” – 1980’s: This is a great reminder of how “rich” I am! It reminds me to be grateful for all I have in my life.  I am so rich…and so are you!  It’s easy to focus on our lack…but let’s focus on our riches!  I have a wonderful family, super great friends, a fulfilling social life, a fabulous marriage, the best kids ever, more money than I need, a beautiful home, I drive a great car, etc… I could write for hours about how rich my life is.  If there is a part of my life in which I don’t feel rich, I think about how I want it to be and focus on that.  I don’t dwell on the lack, or that lack will expand.  I focus on how rich I am…and that keeps expanding! Try it!

4) “Moving forward” – Today: This slogan reminds me to keep moving forward!  So many of us dwell in the past, and it’s easy to do.  We focus  on our past mistakes, on our not-so-desirable childhood, or any number of regrets we may have. (My Mom calls this “Stinking-Thinking”) However, that is your past.  It is over and done with.  You can’t change it. What is important in this moment is what you are choosing to think and believe and say right now.  For these thoughts and words will create your future. It’s healthy to reflect and learn, but then you need to move forward.  Keep moving forward.  Work towards a future you desire and deserve.  Don’t be a victim and relive trauma and badness.  This is your life…LIVE IT!!!

I continue to see this Toyota FJ Cruiser many times a day.  I love that I looked up the slogans and have applied them to my life.  Now when I see this car, I am reminded to think healthy thoughts and to refocus my thinking to be positive. I hope you will do this too!  Thanks, Toyota!!
