Inspired By My Teenager

inspired

This week, I am spotlighting one of my daughters. Ryan is almost 15 and she wrote this real account of a situation that occurred last weekend. This post is peppered with so much humor, truth, and life lessons…I had to share it with all of you. Please be encouraged to share this with your family and especially with your children. I also challenge you to go out there and Take Action as a result of being inspired by her words! Because Together is Better, As pretty much everyone in Arizona knows, there was a monumental and destructive rainstorm quite recently, causing many people immobility for hours. Arizona is commonly known for all of the dirt we have here, and that's exactly what came rushing onto local streets everywhere due to the storm. Now, this rainstorm was unlike any petty … [Read more...]

Savor Diversity

Savor Diversity

I have been recording commercials that are played on my Radio Segment. (Click Here) This has been such a fun way to meet new people and to learn about different businesses and products! Some people send me their products to try and to use, so that I can give a better and more realistic testimony. I get to listen to people explain their passion and learn about the services they provide. This whole side gig has been really enlightening and eye-opening. It is amazing how much diversity there is in the business world and how people have taken their different passions and have made them into their own money-making businesses. Diversity at its Best: In one day, I had the privilege of recording two commercials: One was for a web site that offers workshops, conferences, one-on-one sessions, … [Read more...]

Love is a Decision

love is a decision

About a year ago, my husband told me he wanted to get a new puppy. It had almost been a year since our sweet Australian Shepherd, Chicky, had passed on. He was ready. I was not. Although I missed Chicky, I was really enjoying the house not being hairy and not having to smell her and her food, and not dealing with the dog poop. I was also getting quite use to the freedom of coming and going and travelling without having to make plans for Chicky. My thinking was this: We had always had a dog but that doesn't mean that we always have to have a dog, does it? Why can't we just enjoy this new season of our dog-less lives? Well, when you are in a relationship, sometimes you need to compromise to keep the peace. This was a time when I had to put my husband's needs before my own. I am a little … [Read more...]

Tend to Your Garden

tend to your garden

My family and I just started a garden. My husband built the boxes and did all the irrigation, the whole family went to a local farm to get the best organic compost in this area, and the girls and I planted the seeds. This is a great family project. I love that we will all work together and we will all reap the benefits by eating healthily off the land! I can't wait until it starts producing. With this garden, I find myself outside a lot more. I get excited to see the little seedlings poke through the soil…a little glimmer of my future salads and stir fries! During my time in this new garden, I imagine the vegetables being big and healthy. I give them love as I mentally nurture them. I thank the sun as it shines upon the new life growing in my yard. This garden has become a bit of a … [Read more...]

The Art of Giving

Giving

The other day I found myself sitting in a restaurant by myself for lunch. I had a full day of errands to complete and a time schedule to keep. I ran in to get a quick bite before heading back to my tasks for the day. As I sat there engrossed in my veggie stir fry, I was approached by a young boy trying to sell me a huge box of pixy stix. He was rattling off a bunch of information as I was simultaneously half listening and devouring my lunch..."support children"..."stay off drugs"..."please help"..."donate". When I finally focused on the boy and his words, I realized he wanted me to give him money to support some children's club for under privileged children, which will help them stay off drugs. Since this was a Wednesday during lunch, I asked him if he attended school. He said he … [Read more...]

Impact and Influence Others

Be

Funny how it is…well, it's actually quite sad…we usually are more concerned about how other's words and actions will affect us rather than being concerned about how our words and actions will affect others. We've all been there, we've all done it. In class, at work, at a party, we think to ourselves or voice to a friend, "OH NO, there's so-in-so! Whether they speak too loudly, drink too much, are negative, are obnoxious, rub us the wrong way, etc…we would rather not interact with them. They make us feel uncomfortable, we have to make small talk, and we can't wait to be released from their presence. We don't like the way their words and actions affect us. We even do it with strangers…if someone looks different or "weird" we don't want to … [Read more...]

Life is Like a “Mirror”

Smile

This is a fun and easy analogy: Life is Like a "Mirror"   When you look into a mirror, you see an exact reflection of you.  If you frown into the mirror, you will see a frown.  If you smile into the mirror, you will see a smile.  It is impossible to frown into a mirror and see a smile in the reflection.  That is how easy life works.  If you smile at the world, the world will smile back at you. The same holds true whether you smile, frown, laugh, scream, snarl, stick your tongue out, etc.     If you act grumpy towards the world and expect the world to smile back at you...you have it all wrong.  What you want out of life you need to first give to life.  In other words, what you put out there comes back to you...just like your reflection in the … [Read more...]
